Access Issues When Moving Houses
Today we have moved a modern 3 bedroom, 3 storey townhouse. We often find that when these houses are built, the home builders have not taken into account the size of modern furniture and build houses with tight turns in staircases with low ceiling height.
With this particular move our customer had and oversize sofa which would not fit down the stairs – so the only option was to remove the juliet balcony and pass the furniture down from the 1st floor opening.
She also had lots of quality mirrored furniture and high-gloss finish furniture which had to be protected during the move – which we wrapped in cardboard sheeting, bubble wrap and transit blankets.
We backed the lorry up to the house, raised the tail lift and lowered all the furniture. Before lowering we ensured that all furniture was covered in either our thick blue quilted furniture covers (see pictures) or wrapped in bubble wrap and transit blankets.
To ensure the safety of both our men and the furniture we used 4 men – 2 lowering and 2 on the tail-lift receiving the furniture and loading into the lorry.
once the lorry arrives in chippenham tomorrow for unloading all furniture will be placed in the room and position of which our customer wants, then all furniture covers and bubble wrap will be removed and disposed off.
